Cardano Blockchain

Cardano is a blockchain platform for changemakers, innovators, and visionaries, with the tools and technologies required to create possibility for the many, as well as the few, and bring about positive global change.

Cardano is a proof-of-stake blockchain platform: the first to be founded on peer-reviewed research and developed through evidence-based methods. It combines pioneering technologies to provide unparalleled security and sustainability to decentralized applications, systems, and societies.

With a leading team of engineers, Cardano exists to redistribute power from unaccountable structures to the margins – to individuals – and be an enabling force for positive change and progress.

How Cornucopias uses the Cardano Blockchain

  • Cornucopias will mint 'native' NFTs on the Cardano blockchain.

  • The Play-and-Earn $COPI and NFT elements of Cornucopias will be minted and tested using the Cardano Testnet.

  • Eventually, after the in-game Tokenomics is proven to work using the Cardano Testnet, the full game will be released on the Cardano Mainnet.

It is extremely easy to switch from Testnet to Mainnet on the Cardano network and continuous development will be done on both versions of Cardano.

Cardano Mainnet

Mainnet is the term used to describe when a blockchain protocol is fully developed and deployed, meaning that cryptocurrency transactions are being broadcasted, verified, and recorded on the public blockchain.

When you think of current NFTs on the Cardano network and the ADA currency, the version you are thinking of are the Mainnet versions and they have real-world value.

Cardano Testnet

In contrast to Mainnet networks, the term Testnet describes when a blockchain protocol or network is not yet up and running at its full capacity. A Testnet is used by programmers and developers to test and troubleshoot all the aspects and features of a blockchain network before they are sure the system is secure and ready for the mainnet launch.

You can download 1,000 Cardano Test ADA (tADA) for free from the Cardano Testnet website. tADA can only be used on the Cardano Testnet Blockchain.

Most NFT wallets on Cardano and website tools support both the Mainnet and Testnet versions of Cardano.

Although the Testnet version of Cardano is almost identical to the Mainnet, any NFTs or tokens that are created, minted or transferred on Testnet cannot be transferred to the Mainnet, and therefore, they contain little to no real-world value.

The Cornucopias minting process was and continues to be developed and tested using the Cardano Testnet.
